MARTIN COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A financially-strapped county struggling with a water crisis is getting some help from across the country.
Donations have been pouring in after local musician Tyler Childers drew attention to the problems in Martin County.
"I was taking telephone calls from Seattle, from Atlanta, from Chicago, Buffalo, Clearwater Beach Florida, Baton Rouge ... all over the United States," LeSage Natural Sales Manager Matt Muller said. "People started calling and saying, 'I want to do something.' "
It started with a Facebook post and pledge from Childers, donating water himself while also asking his fans to do the same. Childers also performed a benefit concert in December.
"Once he put it out on his social media that people, his fans, could buy the water through us ... then the phones started blowing up," Muller said.
Childers reached out to LeSage Natural at Green Acres. The non-profit, in the 7000 block of Ohio River Road in LeSage, is one of a kind.
The company employs people with developmental disabilities who help bottle and package the natural water right on site.
